Lynx Mk IV 1/35

Hello,
This is my new subject. I will try to convert this army helicopter (on skids) on a navy version (on wheels).
I do not know so much Westland Lynx helicopters, but I think Aéronavale Lynxes are Mk IV...

Here is the gift I received from my wife for 2 years:

box

Inside:

There will be a lot of work

I do not know how to tackle this resin, it's not a resin for improving models, but resin to impove

I wonder if I can save the nice sound proofing ?

Some broken parts here

The rivets are realy awfull, Archer will make a lot of money with me I think

So, let's start

Navy Lynx

Hi There

Great to see another Lynx fan on the group, I am working on a navy Lynx from Belcher Bits. I am Lynx mad and have only last week found the company Accurate Amour that make the model you have. I called them to find out if they do the navy one but they have no plans to make one.

I have lots of information, details, picutures of the navy Lynx as my farther used to work on them.

If I can help in any way I would like to help.

Justin, I saw your build starting. I too have plenty of pics of french navy lynx that I can share with you.

But if you can help me, I'm looking for picture of how it is under the mesh of the turbine intake.

I have to change that in 1/35

Hi Norbert

Updated the pictures of my Lynx it's starting to come together now.Lots of filler and sanding.

Here is a picture of the intake you wanted,I will try and find a real photo of it.May I ask why you need it most Has 2 and Has 3 all had the metal mesh fitted.

Take a look at these as I thought you will have to change the nose too.

Thank you Justin

in fact, the metal mesh looks like this one :

and in 1/35 scale, i have to get the feeling of the depth behind the mesh. On the real machine, I didn't see the turbine intake, but I think I have to get the panel shape that we see behind the mesh. I wouldn't do it in 1/48

However, the shot of your kit part gives me a better idea of the lines.

Yes, I will have to madify the nose.

Thank you for your help

a try to compare with the real one

I've shot the model with a 200 mm camera at about 4 meters (about 13 fts).
So I will compare with the real one:
Top

Bottom

different areas

The roof on the front thanks to high def pictures.

Maybe I did not shoot the Lynx from far enough, but it is the best picture I have.
Apart of the too long rear fuselage, the not enougth bulbous turbine housing, the too high roof, the angle of....  The model is not that bad

So here it was

lynx update

Hi Norbert Looks like you have a bit of work to do with this.I'm still working on mine and will up load some pictures this weekend. I do fancy this as my next model. But just wish it could be the navy one.I have heard that Airfix have plans of doing a 1/48 kit any idea's?? Keep up the good work. J

So I started by the roof.

So I started by the roof. yes it's unusual, maybe I build upside down.

Here is the inside of the roof, with the door rails on the side

I started to prepare the turbine floor, from the back of the helicopter

The floor is flat, then goes upside, I mean following the panel line

Then you see the roof who will be also the main transmission floor. It lays on the rails, all shape have to be done yet

and then I will work on the cockpit roof

Lot to do now, It will take a long time to build
