Eurocopter SA 330 Puma

Introduction

This little fellow was an impulse buy I did last December. I was searching something to improve the use of decals and this little kit was quite an exercise.

Everything fits perfect - the side doors don´t even have to be glued in place, they stay in place because of the tight fit in their slide rails. Only the exhausts could have been detailed a little bit more. They are just holes in the wall.

Construction:

I have to say - it was fun. No bad surprises everything went together just perfect. But I wanted to improve some of the details. I added some wires to the cockpit...

..made some brake tubes for the gears...

..and rebuilded the rotorhead by using styrene and thin wire. The exhausts have been build by glueing plastic straws into the holes of the doghouse.

After the selfmixed colour was painted and the German version of future (Erdal Glänzer) was applied I placed the tiger stripe decals. It was a big challenge but also big fun!

The result

And this is the result. Some antennas have been replaced by using wire because the kit-ones were a bit thick and the steps under the sliding doors were also replaced out of the same reason by selfmade versions. After another cote of Erdal Glänzer and a gentle wash with oil colours a layer of flat clear cote finished this little project.

I hope you enjoy the pictures - I definetly enjoyed the build.
