HH-60H Rescue Hawk

HH-60H Rescue Hawk

The HH-60H Rescue Hawk is the US Navy helicopter for rescue missions over the enemy lines. The many modifications and armament for this specific role intrigued me.

I used the the Italeri HH-60H Rescue Hawk kit in scale 1/72. I used detail sets from Armycast M&M (engine and upgrade set) and Eduard photo-etched parts. This kit isn't the greatest, so I had to make lots of new parts, sanding, shape-repairs etc.

The most dificult part was scratch-building the complete interior using plastic sheet and re-riveting the surface.

Before painting I airbrushed the model with Mr. Surfacer 1200 and preshaded the model with a mix of camouflage colours.

Next came a layer of Gunze Sangyo colours H. The basic colour was mixed with blue and white colour to create different shades

The markings and stencils came from various sources: Eagle Strike, Bilek, Academy, Italeri....

Weathering is mainly done by MIG neutral wash mixed with brown and black oil colours. I didnīt use any varnish for unification of the surface. The built took me 9 months and I really enjoyed creating this little baby.
