Armed to the teeth, loud and ominous - thats the formidable Mil Mi-24 Hind. Even if it isn't that big, with his bulky appearance it is one of the most known helicopters in the world. Following the "Gunship-Concept" the Mi-24 depends on the Mi-8. The though russian helicopter is produced since 35 years and there is no end of its career in sight. My model is a Mi-24D of the Polish Air Force.
The older Monogram kit provides a good basis and has been enhanced with photoetch from Eduard and a resin interior from Cobra Company. Especially the Eduard PEs provide some great additional details. But there were also some things that had to be built from scratch like the cables at the rocket launchers, the chaff dispensers and so on...
The whole kit was engraved and rivetted but in reality the rivets were not engraved....but i wasnt motivated enough to glue hundreds of raised rivets on the kit ;). The fit of the Monogram kit is quite ok and the only big disappointment of the kit is the engine. If you look into the exhaust pipe you will see the seam...As far as I know there is no seamless intake on the aftermarket :(
I painted the model using my airbrush and a mix off Revell Aqua Colors, Xtracrylix and Tamiya Acrylics.
