This is the LA County Sheriff's Department "Rescue 5" Sea King in scale 1/72.

I bought the Whirlybirds conversion kit a couple of years ago and have recently got round to building it.

The base kit that I used was the Revell, Westland Sea King, which was back converted to a SH-3D. The Whirlybirds conversion kit is fairly comprehensive. It includes sponsons, photoetch and white metal parts for the rotor damper. I decided to build an interior using the rather useful photo's that are included in the instructions and saw it promptly swallowed up when the fuselages were joined. The decals provide the gold lettering and the badges.

To conclude, an enjoyable build

KIa Ora friend, The colours

KIa Ora friend,

The colours were a mix of Humbrol; H56 Gold. Gunze Sangyo acrylics. The metallic green being H89 darkened with a touch of Metallic black H28. The strpes where Yamiya Lemmon Yellow X8 and the light green Gunze Sangyo H26 lightened with the lemon yellow. Make sure that you use photo reference in the form of the photos found on Airliners.net.

The white stripes where the worst aspect of the paint job as I used Testors white decal sheet which I found had limit ti how thin I could go, this resulted in the white stripes being thicker than I really wanted.

Regards

Henry

Yes I saw that too.

I had throught of making a small milliput nose and leaving it on the edge of the door. But perhaps some people would think it in bad taste.
