(Heller - Nr. 80413)

Heller - UH-1N Special Forces

Theme:Utility Helicopters
Productnumber:80413 - UH-1N Special Forces
Type:Full kits
Year of release:August 1999

In 1999 Heller released this UH-1N "Special Forces" in scale 1/48. The kit with stock number 80413 contains 141 parts on 2 grey sprues and one clear sprue.

Except for the decals this Twin Huey kit is exactly the same as the Italeri UH-1N Twin Huey.

The kit comes with fine recessed panel lines and a few lines of raised rivets. The shape of the nose is however incorrect, Italeri turned it up side down. This is a pity as otherwise it would have been a nice representation.

The small decalsheet contains markings for just one aircraft, the instruction sheet however doesn't give any information about the squadron, date or location. After some research the UH-1N with number 69-6642 belonged to the 20th SOS stationed at Hurlburt Field, Florida in 1982.

The official colors for this Leopoard paint scheme are: Patches of Brown (FS30118), Dark Green (FS34092) and light green (FS34102) over the base color Grey (FS36231). The paint reference are only given in Heller paint numbers.

About the boxart: the artist represents two windows on the top of the nose. Of course, these windows dont exist. In reality, at this place, you find two access panel, just engraved in the model.
