This sheet, done by the German manufacturor HaHen, allows you to build any German UH-1D in 1/35. If this is not your scale, don't worry it is also available in 1/32, 1/48 and 1/72.

The set consists of 4 decalsheets (2 in color, 2 in black and white) and a 1 page instruction sheet in color.

Decals needs to be cut from the one-piece carrier film which is very thin. Decals are crisp and perfectly registered, even the tniest stencils and markings are perfectly legible. A protective layer has already been added by Hahen.

The Dragon kit UH-1D HEER #3542 has markings for 3 versions: 2 Heeresflieger from Bückeburg and Köln/Bonn as well as a SAR version belonging to LTG 63. In case you want to build another version this decal set is exactly what you need. It contains markings for all the different units of the German Army (HEER), Luftwaffe, Bundesgrenzschutz and Luftrettung.

Markings for following units are present:

  • HTG 64
  • LTG 63
  • LTG 62
  • LTG 61
  • Bückeburg
  • Heeresfliegerregiments 30 aus Niederstetten
  • Heeresfliegerregiments 20
  • Heeresfliegerregiments 10
  • HFlgBtl 6
  • HFlgBtl 8
  • Bundesgrenzschutz, D-HATE
  • Luftrettung, Bundesministerium des Innern, D-HBZx
  • Flugbereitschaft Luftwaffe BMVg

If you want to build a Search and Rescue version you can choose between different versions of the SAR-text.

Absolutely recommended!

Absolutely agree

that's really a fine sheet. The only thing is, that the documentation (which tactical number in which scheme etc.) is a litle bit weak. So I recommend you to do your research precisely and to decide which bird exactly you want to build and get sticky to it looking for photos beforehand.

The BGS-a/c is the one of the Fliegerstaffel Ost (Flying wing east) which can be seen at the Lufwaffe's Museum in Berlin- Gatow.

One last comment for the coloured side-view instruction sheet, the Luftrettung-birds were indeed RAL 2004 "Reinorange" , but the SAR-doors aren't - they are RAL 20o5 Leuchtorange (dayglo orange)

Addition

Please note, that the BGS-bird is not Olivgruen, but RAL 6012 Schwarzgrün - also the skids, they're not black

Bundespolizei UH-1D

Hi Troschi,

The Bundesgrenschutz is now called Bundespolizei right? Or are they 2 different organisations?

If they are the same, does the UH-1D still fly with the Bundespolizei?

Bundespolizei UH-1D

Hi,
Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) is replaced by the new name Bundespolizei. The former Bundesgrenzschutz (Boundery protection) converted to an alert police since the warschaw pakt was out of duty. UH-1D is out of service for  some years ago and were replaced by EC 135. kkair

Bundespolizei transformation 2005

The transformation was in 2005

The official retirement of the UH-1D was at 31st Dec 2001. But the last flights were done in Nov 2001.

BGS-Hueys are preserved at Oberschleißheim museum (D-HATU), Berlin-Gatow Museum (D-HATE) and Border Museum Schifflersgrung (D-HAQI)

for their retirement, D-HATE and D-HALE received a special painting. The colourful painting of the D-HATE had to be removed for the preservation at the Luftwaffenmuseum and the painting on the D-HALE was rather unspectacular.

Now the Hueys were replaced by EC 155.

The orange "Luftrettung"-UH-1D (D-HBZA-F, D-HBZU/D-HBZV) -also operated by the BGS- were withdrawn from service in 1997/1998.

Skids of D-HATE were dark gray on top

I guess it's kind of an anti-skid coat.

D-HATE Skid Colors

actually it was more black

and your're right. This was an anti-slip coating. The orange one had it too.

But in the case of the D-HATE in Gatow this coathing seems to be grey as it was brightened up by the sunlight as the rest of the aircraft.

NOTE: Since this bird is displayed outside, the weather has had a considerable influence on the outer appearance. I would not use this aircraft as a colour reference for BGS-birds.
