CH-53E Sea Stallion Walkways

This sheet 48-MAW009 CH-53E Sea Stallion Walkways was released by MAW Decals in May 2008 and contains alternative walkways for the Academy CH-53E. The decals are currently available for $5.99. Here is a view on what you get.

Decals

This set contains a single decalsheet (printed by Microscale) with walkways for the CH-53E Sea Stallion. The walkways replace those provided in the Academy kit. The walkways in the kit are not bad but some parts for the external fuel tanks are missing and the quality of the MAW walkways is just better. The ultra thin decals are printed with good colour saturation and excellent register.

Instruction sheet

The coloured instruction sheet is printed on glossy paper and shows a CH-53E seen from the top, this is the only view you need to apply the walkways correctly.

Usage

This sheet is also included in the full decal sets MAW-010 CH-53D/E Heavy Haulers and MAW-011 HMM-261(rein) Heavy Haulers that we reviewed here in scale-rotors. So if you have one of these sets or you plan to buy one of them you don't need this one.

If it is contained in the other sets why would MAW bring this set as a seperate sheet? Well you might be happy with the markings from the kit or you might be interested in alternative markings provided by Flying Leathernecks. If you are in one of these 2 cases you can still improve the big walkway decals using this set from MAW.

Conclusion

If you don't have the other MAW decals then this sheet is recommended to improve your Academy CH-53E.
